Think of it as a friction-free place to capture anything on your mind — an idea, a to-do, a commitment — without having to decide when you'll do it. This is especially useful if you find yourself overwhelmed by a flood of thoughts and just need to get them out of your head quickly. Nothing gets lost, and nothing requires a date. When you're ready to actually plan, you can come back and schedule items from the dump into specific days.

Where do I find my Floating Tasks?

Tap the floating button (FAB) on the Calendar screen to open the DumpTaskSheet, then switch to the second tab labelled "Floating Tasks." Your incomplete past tasks will be listed there, grouped by the date they were originally scheduled, with friendly relative date labels like "Yesterday," "3 days ago," or a specific date such as "Jan 15."

How do I add something to the Task Dump?

Create a task without setting a scheduled date. It will automatically land in the Task Dump. You can access the dump at any time by tapping the floating button (FAB) on the Calendar screen — this opens the DumpTaskSheet, where the first tab is your Task Dump. From there, you'll see all your unscheduled items listed as tiles showing the task title, an energy or emoji icon, and an urgency badge (Do Now, Schedule, or Anytime).

The list is long — how does it load?

Floating Tasks load 10 at a time. Once you've reviewed the first batch, tap the "Load more" button at the bottom of the list to reveal the next 10, and so on. This keeps the screen manageable even if many tasks have accumulated over time.

How do I schedule a task from the Task Dump?

Select one or more tasks using the checkboxes on each tile. A sticky action bar will slide up from the bottom once you have at least one item selected. Tap "Schedule selected (N) →" to begin. You'll first choose a date — Today, Tomorrow, or a custom date — and then pick a time bucket: Any Time (default), Morning, Afternoon, or Evening. Once you confirm, the selected tasks are moved out of the dump and into your calendar on the chosen day.

How do I reschedule a Floating Task?

The process is the same as scheduling from the Task Dump: check the tasks you want to reschedule, tap "Schedule selected (N) →" in the action bar, pick a date, and then choose a time bucket. Once confirmed, the tasks are assigned to the new date and removed from the Floating Tasks list.

Can I select multiple tasks and schedule them all at once?

Yes. You can check as many tasks as you want from the list, then schedule them all in one flow. The action bar shows how many are currently selected, and the scheduling steps apply to all of them together.

Why might scheduling many Floating Tasks feel slow?

Currently, Floating Tasks are scheduled one at a time behind the scenes (each task sends a separate request to the server). If you select a large number of tasks at once, it may take a moment to process all of them. A future update is planned to handle this in a single bulk operation, which will make it significantly faster.

What does the number badge on the Task Dump tab mean?

The purple badge next to the "Task Dump" tab label shows how many unscheduled tasks are currently in the dump. It updates automatically as you add or schedule tasks.

You'll see a friendly empty state: a sparkle emoji with the message "No floating tasks! All past tasks are wrapped up." It means you're fully caught up — nothing has been left behind from previous days.
